Where to stay and what to do while your partner plays
Laguna and Bang Tao: Angsana Laguna Phuket combines beach access, a pool and spa facilities, with Laguna Golf in the same resort area. Your partner can swim at the hotel or visit Oasis for a treatment in a private villa. Porto de Phuket combines Let's Relax with shops and cafés for time before or after a massage. Transport between the hotel, course and spa depends on their locations.
Patong and Kathu: M Social is connected to Jungceylon mall, with cafés, shops and a Let's Relax spa at the hotel. It's a useful base for a partner who likes exploring independently. Arrange a return transfer to Red Mountain in Kathu for your round, then meet back in Patong. Allow time for a shower and the drive back when agreeing evening plans.
Mai Khao: JW Marriott Phuket centres the stay on its beach, gardens, pools and spa. Your partner can enjoy the resort while you travel to Blue Canyon's Lakes Course in the north of the island. The distance from Patong makes this more of a resort holiday, with evenings at the hotel, than a base for daily shopping and meals in town.
Booking for one golfer: select only the people who will play, and ask which dates accept a single booking and how pairing works. When checked, Blue Canyon's Lakes Course listed a minimum of one player on weekdays and two at weekends. For a solo weekend round, enquire about another date or course. A partner coming along to watch needs separate confirmation of guest and buggy access.
Spas and cooking classes: choose a spa near your hotel to keep the journey simple. For a different day out, Blue Elephant in Phuket Town offers Thai cooking lessons. The morning session includes a market visit; the afternoon has a different format. Check the session time, teaching language and whether one person can join, then arrange transport to the school.
Dinner or a show together: from a Patong base, consider a meal overlooking the bay at Sea Salt Lounge & Grill, or a Thai cultural performance at Siam Niramit. Sea Salt asks for smart casual dress rather than sportswear, and a particular sea-view table cannot be reserved. For Siam Niramit, check whether dinner and hotel pickup are included. Leave room for a late finish at golf before booking either.
A day out together: John Gray's sea canoe trip explores caves and lagoons on Phang Nga Bay and continues through sunset. Give it a separate day without golf instead of trying to join after a morning round. Confirm pickup from your hotel and the return time, and keep that evening clear of a fixed-time show.
Putting the bookings together: choose your hotel area, then arrange golf, your partner's activity and evening plans. If sharing a driver, give both destinations and pickup times.
