Phaya Thai is the city terminus of the Airport Rail Link from Suvarnabhumi and an interchange with the BTS Sukhumvit Line. One train from the airport, then the BTS takes you straight to Siam or Sukhumvit, which is a real advantage on arrival and departure days when taxi traffic is unpredictable. The area around the station is more local neighbourhood than tourist hub, so hotels of the same class tend to feel calmer than in Siam or Sukhumvit.

Its two buildings on a broad site give it a different kind of space from the newer towers, and triple rooms let a family of three share. From Phaya Thai the BTS reaches Siam in two stops, so you can shop and sightsee in the centre while staying here for better value and larger rooms. King Power Rangnam duty free and the local restaurants along Soi Rangnam are both walkable.
On departure day, check out, leave your bags at the hotel, spend the day in the city and collect them in the evening before taking the train. For a very early flight, check the first train time; if it runs too late, book the hotel's airport car instead.
