Where to stay in Hiroshima: 6 hotels near the station and Peace Memorial Park, plus Miyajima ryokan

Most Hiroshima trips come down to three bases: Hiroshima Station, the city center around the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park, or Miyajima, home of Itsukushima Shrine. A hotel by the station suits Shinkansen connections, one near the Dome suits walking, and a night on Miyajima lets you see the island in the evening and early morning after day trippers leave. The 6 stays below cover all three.

How we chose

  • Pick your base first. Sheraton Grand Hiroshima is about 250 m from Hiroshima Station (straight-line distance). RIHGA Royal Hotel Hiroshima is about 460 m from the Atomic Bomb Dome and Candeo Hotels Hiroshima Hatchobori about 900 m, so the Peace Memorial Park area is walkable from both.
  • Baths and pools differ by hotel. Candeo Hatchobori has an onsen bath with sauna and steam room; Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima has an onsen plus indoor, outdoor and children's pools; Sheraton Grand has an indoor view pool and sauna; RIHGA Royal has an indoor pool and sauna.
  • If you stay on Miyajima, check the last ferry and how you will get to the pier. Iwaso runs a free ferry-terminal shuttle and a free local shuttle, and Miyajima Kinsuikan is a 34-room stay built around kaiseki dinners.
