Saga Airport may suit an itinerary with international connections, but routes and operating days vary by season. Compare Saga for airport convenience and Fukuoka for a wider range of Kyushu connections. Tosu and Saga City are generally around an hour from Hakata; Takeo and Karatsu can take longer depending on the start point and traffic, so plan from the actual tee time.
The character of the courses varies clearly. Karatsu Golf Club is a coastal layout dating from the 1930s, while Taku and Tenzan are inland courses built into the hills. The Takeo and Ureshino area sits beside hot-spring towns, so the round and the hotel can be in the same place.
Spring and autumn are best. Summer humidity makes an early tee time worthwhile, and while courses stay open in winter, the hill courses around Taku and Tenzan are worth checking for morning fog and low temperatures.
Comparing a Japanese tee time on the headline green fee alone tends to produce a different number at the counter. Confirm whether cart, caddie or self play, lunch, locker and the local golf tax are included, then check rental clubs or shoes, minimum player counts, two-player supplements, payment method and whether overseas visitors can book. Clubs may also specify check-in times, dress codes and bathing etiquette, so submit player names accurately.
For two nights, a comfortable shape is a first night in Hakata, eighteen holes around Takeo or Taku followed by an onsen stay, then a final round near Tosu on the way back to Fukuoka Airport.
