The Lake Ashi Cruise is a famous local activity. Lake Ashi is the heart of Hakone tourism, located west of Hakone Town at the southern foot of Mount Komagatake. The lake covers 690 hectares with a depth of 723 meters and a shoreline of 17.5 km. Formed over 4,000 years ago by volcanic activity, it is a crater lake shaped by water erosion. Lake Ashi is backed by Mount Fuji, creating stunning lake-mountain vistas that change with the seasons. The lakeside trails are lined with lush pines and cedars, offering serene scenery. The lake teems with black bass and trout, making it a popular spot for Japanese visitors to enjoy boating, fishing, and swimming. In May, Lake Ashi is surrounded by fresh greenery with crystal-clear waters. From the southern shore, you can see Mount Fuji to the north. The eastern shore features mountains and pirate cruise ships, which have become iconic sights on Lake Ashi.
