Basic Information

Ningle Terrace is a charming craft village located in the forest surrounding Shin Furano Prince Hotel in Furano, Hokkaido. The area features 15 small wooden log cabins connected by elevated wooden walkways, creating a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by trees. Its name comes from the imaginary forest-dwelling creatures known as “Ningles,” featured in stories by Japanese screenwriter So Kuramoto.
Each cabin houses a small craft shop offering handmade products inspired by Hokkaido's natural surroundings. Visitors can discover wooden ornaments, handmade candles, leather accessories, silver jewelry, and delicate paper artworks. Some shops also allow visitors to observe artisans at work, providing an opportunity to appreciate the craftsmanship behind these unique souvenirs.
Ningle Terrace is especially famous for its beautiful winter scenery. When snow covers the roofs and forest paths, the wooden cottages resemble a small village from a fairy tale. After sunset, warm lights illuminate the cabins and walkways, creating a striking contrast against the surrounding white snow. During warmer seasons, the forest becomes lush and green, offering a different atmosphere.
Located approximately two minutes on foot from Shin Furano Prince Hotel, Ningle Terrace is accessible to visitors who are not staying at the hotel. Admission is free, making it a pleasant destination for sightseeing, photography, and souvenir shopping. The combination of natural scenery and traditional craftsmanship makes it one of Furano's distinctive attractions.

Monkey Tips

For the most atmospheric winter photographs, visit after sunset when the wooden cabins and walkways are illuminated. The warm lights shining through the windows create a beautiful contrast with the snow-covered forest. Take photos from the designated wooden paths and follow any access restrictions during poor weather.
Take some time to explore the individual craft shops rather than only photographing the cottages. Each shop offers different handmade products inspired by Furano's nature, including candles, silver ornaments, wooden crafts, and paper artwork. Some craft-making experiences require advance reservations, so check the shop information before your visit.
If you plan to stay until the evening illuminations, check your return transportation in advance. According to Furano Bus's timetable effective April 1, 2026, the last Lavender-go bus departing Shin Furano Prince Hotel is scheduled for 15:55. A taxi or other arranged transport may be necessary for visitors staying after sunset.
