Basic Information

Marunouchi Illumination is one of Tokyo's most popular winter light displays, held annually along Marunouchi Naka-dori Street near Tokyo Station. During the winter season, approximately 1.2 kilometers of tree-lined streets are illuminated with thousands of champagne-gold LED lights, creating a beautiful and romantic nighttime atmosphere.
The illumination transforms Marunouchi's elegant shopping streets into a sparkling winter destination. Visitors can stroll beneath glowing trees while admiring stylish boutiques, modern buildings, and beautifully decorated storefronts.
The 2026–2027 event runs from November 12, 2026 to February 14, 2027. From November 12 to December 25, the area also hosts MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY, featuring Harry Potter-themed Christmas decorations, photo spots, seasonal shopping, and festive events.
Located just a short walk from Tokyo Station, Marunouchi Illumination is a popular destination for couples, families, and travelers looking to enjoy Tokyo's beautiful winter nightlife.

Monkey Tips

Marunouchi Illumination is a seasonal event, running from November 12, 2026 to February 14, 2027. Visitors should check the event dates before planning their trip, as the lights are not available throughout the year.
The lights are normally illuminated from 16:00 to 23:00, with extended hours until midnight during December. Visiting after sunset is recommended for the most beautiful photographs.
For a comfortable walk, allow approximately 30–60 minutes to explore the illuminated streets. Weekends and the Christmas season can be busy, so weekday evenings are a good option for a more relaxed experience.
The illumination is free to enjoy. Visitors can also explore nearby shopping centers, restaurants, and cafés while enjoying the festive atmosphere.
From November 12 to December 25, 2026, special holiday decorations and themed photo spots are available throughout the Marunouchi area. These additional displays have separate schedules and may end before the main illumination event.
Some sections of Marunouchi Naka-dori are open to vehicles outside designated pedestrian-only hours. Visitors should stay on sidewalks and follow local traffic signs when taking photographs.
