Just 12km from Kanchanaburi, Nong Khao may not seem very different from other Thai villages at first, but you’ll be deeply impressed by its well-preserved traditional way of life once you take a closer look.
Travel through the village by bicycle or local truck and glimpse the simple daily lives of the residents as they tend the surrounding rice fields, mill rice, raise cattle, and weave clothing.
A rice goddess ceremony also offers insight into the importance of rice in Thai culture.
You’ll also learn how to make rice snacks with the villagers and visit the village weaving center, where you can purchase locally made products such as handwoven clothing, bamboo handicrafts, and palm products.
