- Overview
- Enjoy Kanchanaburi with a variety of options!
-
Travel to Kanchanaburi, a provincial city approximately 2–3 hours from Bangkok, and choose from a variety of tours around Kanchanaburi.
Admire Kanchanaburi’s iconic landmarks, history, and natural beauty with a visit to the famous Bridge over the River Kwai, where you can learn about the area’s role in World War II. You can also choose a tour to Damnoen Saduak’s rural floating market, exploring the small canals and discovering what everyday life may once have been like there.
For a historical experience, visit Hellfire Pass, the deepest cutting along the unfinished railway, and the Hellfire Pass Memorial, built with funding from the Australian government in cooperation with the Thai government.
Alternatively, visit Erawan, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the River Kwai valley, located within a protected forest that attracts millions of visitors and trekkers each year. Take a dip in its emerald waters, enjoy a short trek to Erawan Falls, or experience activities including elephant bathing, elephant riding, and raft trekking. - Tour Details

- River Kwai
Made famous by the film, the Bridge on the River Kwai was destroyed in a bombing in 1945, just two years after it was built.
The current bridge is a reconstruction, newly built to reconnect the railway lines on both sides of the river. It was created for tourists who came to see the Bridge on the River Kwai after watching the film, and today it stands proudly as if it were the original bridge. -
- JEATH War Museum
Located on the banks of the Mae Klong River in Wat Chai Chomphon, the JEATH Museum is a reconstruction of a prisoner-of-war camp. Its name is derived from the initials of Japan, England, Australia, Thailand, and Holland.
The camp was built on a large scale to house Allied prisoners of war and illustrates the horrors of World War II. -
- Death Railway
This 415-kilometer railway between Thailand and Burma is known as the Death Railway because it was built at the cost of Allied prisoners of war held captive by the Japanese army.
The train runs from Kanchanaburi southward and operates only three times a day.
Sheer cliffs and deep gorges unfold dramatically outside the windows. -
- World War II Allied War Cemetery
6,982 Allied prisoners of war were forced to work on the construction of the Bridge on the River Kwai and the Death Railway. This cemetery is the final resting place of those who tragically lost their lives under forced labor by the Japanese military.

- Erawan National Park
Erawan National Park is famous for Erawan Falls, which cascades down seven tiers.
The waterfalls have a mystical color caused by limestone and calcium carbonate deposits in the pools. Take in the beautiful natural scenery and enjoy swimming alongside schools of fish in the falls.
* If you plan to swim at Erawan Falls, we recommend bringing a swimsuit, towel, drinking water, and other essentials.
* Food and drinks are not allowed beyond the second waterfall to help protect the natural environment. Bottled water is permitted with a 20-baht deposit, which will be refunded when you leave the park.
* National park admission: 300 baht for adults, 200 baht for children (ages 6–14), and free for children under 6.
