Hidden Gem in Bangkok's Sukhumvit: Japanese Ramen "Tan Tan Men"
The restaurant featured today is Tantanmen, a Japanese ramen shop located at Sukumbit Soi 33/1.
A hidden gem restaurant perfect for independent travelers, located just a 5-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station. ^^
It's more accurate to say it's less known rather than hidden.
Since there are many Japanese people living in Thailand, there are truly a lot of delicious Japanese restaurants everywhere~
This is a place we visit time and again, thanks to its diverse Japanese ramen dishes and the zesty seafood jjambbong ramen.
In fact, I've seriously debated whether or not to introduce myself.
It's a bit embarrassing if people find out... I just wanted to keep it hidden and discover it on my own. Hahaha
If you've ever traveled to Japan, you've probably tried tanmen at least once~
Alright, let's begin the public announcement.
After getting off at the BTS Phrom Phong Station in Bangkok, you can find Sukhumvit Soi 33/1 by walking just a short distance.
(This alley is so filled with Japanese people and Japanese restaurants that it's often called Little Tokyo.)
Just walk a little down that alley, and you'll find this house immediately on your right ^^
Tan Tan Men is a small-sized Japanese restaurant that is not very large.
In addition to its main dish, ramen, this place offers a variety of Japanese foods at affordable prices.
A photo showcasing the representative dishes of this house.
And the menu board is conveniently placed right at the entrance of the shop.
First, take your time to look through the menu and decide on the items you like; it's never too late to make a decision.
As expected, this is Japan, a country that loves animation.
The characters in this shop are animated.
For some reason, the characters feel endearing... and I have a strong feeling that I must try the ramen at this place.
The interior is small and cozy.
It's divided into the first and second floors, and we've taken our seats on the first floor.
While living in Bangkok, Thailand, I occasionally visit Japanese restaurants, and there is something quite peculiar about them...
There are always comic books prepared in one corner, wherever you go.
As expected from people in Japan who truly love manga, there are many customers who wait while reading manga before the food arrives. ^^
In fact, some Japanese guests come alone, order a single bowl of ramen, and spend the entire meal reading manga.
Whether children or adults, men or women, Japanese people who love animation are truly remarkable.
I think this restaurant is good because it has a very simple, down-to-earth feel.
It's neither flashy nor sophisticated, but the food is delicious, so what's the problem? lol
Won't this make that fondness even stronger?
This menu features a mascot of Tan Tan Men on the front.
By the way, it surprisingly offers a wide variety of menu items.
Curious about the menu?
The real sense of style is to go there yourself!!!
What should I eat today? ... After pondering for quite a while, I finally decided on a menu.
All pork cutlet ramen
This is a ramen featuring a standout rich soybean paste broth.
And the ramen ordered by the friend I went with was actually tsatsunbo ramen.
This is a recommended dish from Ijip, featuring a refreshing and zesty broth that is truly exquisite.
For some reason, white jjambong still feels a bit strange, but once you try it, your perception changes completely. ^^
And I ordered this menu because eating just ramen felt a bit lacking.
This dish is perfectly suited to be called Japanese-style sweet and sour pork.
It's one of the quite excellent side dishes, simply delicious when dipped lightly in soy sauce.
As mentioned earlier, Bangkok, Thailand, has been heavily influenced by Japan and is home to many Japanese residents.
NaturallyIt's a city with an enormous number of Japanese restaurants.
When you visit areas with a large number of Japanese people, you sometimes get the mistaken impression that you've landed in Japan ^^
It seems to be a place where you can encounter such a wide variety of Japanese foods.
In particular, you can encounter many Japanese ramen shops, but among them, the "Tan Tan Men" introduced today is from Bangkok, Thailand.
It seems to be one of the places where you can experience the delicious taste of ramen from the Japanese mainland.
If you have time, please give it a try!
