Basic Information

One of the oldest temples in Bangkok, it is famous for the 'Golden Buddha,' a 46-meter-long and 15-meter-high statue commissioned by King Rama III in 1822. It is said to depict the moment just before the Buddha's parinirvana. This colossal statue has a footprint alone measuring 5 meters wide and 3 meters high.

Monkey Tips

If you purchase a ticket at the entrance, you will receive a complimentary bottle of water. Wat Phra Kaew has two entrances: Thonburi Tai Wang, located south of the Grand Palace, and Thonburi Chet Thuphon, which serves as the main entrance.
