Review Information
Until recently, the Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines, held the title of Southeast Asia's largest shopping mall, but
A mega-sized complex shopping mall named "Mega Bangna" opened last year in Bangkok, rivaling it in scale.
It is a mega-scale shopping town featuring approximately 800 stores, including IKEA, Robinson Department Store, Big C, and HomePro, living up to its prestigious name.
Located on the outskirts of Bangkok's city center, it has yet to attract many tourists, but it is a place worth visiting for shopping enthusiasts.
How to Get There
As you can see on the map, it is located in a very unfamiliar area. It appears to be near the airport.
The BTS station visible nearby is also unfamiliar to tourists.
Although BTS Station appears close on the map, it is actually over a 20-minute drive away.
Therefore, Megafana operates free shuttle buses. This is already well-known information.
Free shuttle buses are available every 20 to 25 minutes near Exit 5 of BTS Udom Suk Station (7 stops from Arsoke Station).
Exit 5 of Udomsok Station, turn around, and you will see it as shown above.
The shuttle bus stop is approximately 15 meters ahead on Wuzi Alley.
Just wait in front of the 7-Eleven convenience store like this.
This stop is served not only by Megabangna Shuttle buses but also by various public transportation options, including regular city buses and Fenggo vans heading to the airport.
If you're tired from waiting and your judgment is clouded by the heat, do not board just any bus; you must board the one clearly marked "MEGA BANGNA."
Finally, the shuttle bus has arrived. You must board the large bus with "MEGABANGNARA" written on it.
Even among the laid-back Thais, competition for seats is fierce. It doesn't matter where you sit, front or back.
However, since the shuttles depart every 20 to 25 minutes, if you miss the timing, you may have to wait a long time for the next one.
If you feel you can't wait any longer, you can take the paid Songthaew (20 baht) ahead of time.
But if you make a mistake, you could end up in Pattaya, so please be careful. ....:::
Upon closer inspection, it is written as MegaBangnara.
After about 20 minutes on the cool shuttle bus, Mega Bangna will appear in all its grandeur through the right-side window.
Alright, now that we've arrived, it's time to start shopping in earnest, but it's so vast that I don't know where to begin looking around.
Mega Bangna is an oval-shaped structure filled with over 800 shops inside.
Surrounded by Big C, Robinson Department Store, HomePro, and IKEA.
It's too vast and complex; you might end up wandering in circles if you're not careful, so we recommend planning your route using the map below for a better shopping experience.
I chose to take the shuttle starting from the Big C entrance and returning to Udom Suk Station via the IKEA exit.
Exit the shuttle, take the escalator to the second floor, and as you follow the path, Big C Extra will be the first store you see.
Big C is also large, as befits an extra. Of course, since Big C is easily visible in the city, you can simply pass by without taking a look.
As we go along, there will be a sign; let's follow the road towards Robinson and IKEA.
This is a Hero's Pucca store that will appeal to both children and adults.
Recently, Yeongdeungpo Times Square, which has established itself as Seoul's top shopping destination and a premier dating spot, is nothing compared to Megabox.
As you walk along the road, you will see the entrance to Robinson Department Store.
In fact, Robinson Department Store is a department store that can be easily seen in the city, so it may not be particularly interesting.
Then, in the end, Ikea will be the highlight of Megafang's story.
IKEA
It is a global DIY home improvement shopping mall known as the synonym in the interior design industry.
It is already well-known within South Korea; a store recently opened in Ilsan, and a large-scale exhibition store is set to be established in Gwangmyeong soon.
Furniture and accessories are displayed in an exhibition-style layout, which may make it difficult for those with a keen interest in interior design to resist the urge to make impulse purchases.
Since no proper store has yet opened in Korea, a visit to Mega Bangna will be an essential stop for anyone.
Upon entering, you will find small yellow carts, envelopes, paper, and pencils.
Paper and pencils are provided for writing down the numbers of displayed furniture for ordering purposes.
Simply attach the bag to the cart as shown above and pull it along.
Overall, prices are not particularly cheap compared to those in Thailand, but you can still find affordable items on promotion throughout the area.
The down cushion is less than 8,000 won.
The living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom are furnished and decorated like a drama set, further stimulating the desire to purchase.
As shown above, the shopping route is clearly marked; following the arrows at a leisurely pace ensures you won't miss anything and can enjoy a comprehensive tour.
Simply follow the arrows on the floor and walk around slowly.
As you reach the end of the second-floor exhibition, you will transition to the first floor. While the second floor primarily features furniture displays, the first floor offers a variety of smaller items such as kitchenware, lighting, bedding, and bathroom accessories.
And finally, a large warehouse appears; if you call up the number of the DIY furniture you've marked, you can actually purchase it.
This is the checkout area. Please return your cart and yellow bag to this location before checking out.
Unfortunately, IKEA does not provide separate bags for purchased items, so if you don't have a place to put them, you'll need to purchase a blue bag for a fee.
If you take your time exploring, this route at IKEA alone will take at least two hours. Naturally, you'll get hungry while shopping, right?
At Mega Bangna, there is plenty to eat, but the restaurant located on the second floor of IKEA is truly unique, so it's worth giving it a try.
It features a mini food court layout, allowing for efficient food purchases similar to IKEA's shopping flow.
First, pull the cart that can hold food like this
Move along the line.
Fill a cup for unlimited refills, add an appetizer, order a main course, include a dessert, and you're done at checkout!
That is how it is. What a fascinating sight, isn't it?
Finally, please make the payment.
Please sit at the empty seat and enjoy your meal.
It's not particularly delicious, but it's great for a quick meal while shopping.
In addition, there are various restaurants near IKEA, so you can dine according to your preference.
After finishing your shopping, exit through the IKEA exit, take the shuttle bus to BTS Huam, and you'll have completed a well-rounded Mega Bangna shopping itinerary.
Please refer to the shuttle schedule above.
Although it is somewhat far from the city center, if your Bangkok itinerary allows for extra time, it is definitely worth visiting for a day trip.
That concludes our introduction to Megabangna, Southeast Asia's largest shopping mall.
