10:40–12:00 Visit Hue Imperial City
One of Hue’s top attractions, the Imperial City is home to palaces and tombs associated with the emperors.
Emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty lived within this vast, walled complex. Its inner section was the Forbidden City, accessible only to the emperor, his concubines, and his close associates. Anyone who entered without permission could be sentenced to death.
Restoration work is underway to preserve the site as a historic attraction, but little of the once-forbidden area remains, and much of it has been destroyed.
The South Gate, where visitors enter, is said to have been modeled after Beijing’s Forbidden City. Inside the palace grounds are royal residences, temples, and the Forbidden Purple City, built for the emperor. Its name was also inspired by China’s Forbidden City.

Khai Dinh ruled from 1916 to 1925, during the later years of the Nguyen Dynasty. Construction of his tomb began in 1920 and was completed in 1931. In contrast to other imperial tombs modeled on Chinese architecture, this concrete structure features a distinctly European style, reflecting the influence of French colonial rule.

Construction of Emperor Minh Mang’s Tomb began in 1804 and was completed in about three years. It is one of the structures built under Chinese influence.
Emperor Minh Mang worked hard to strengthen the country, and his reign marked the golden age of the Nguyen Dynasty.
The tomb is especially memorable for the civil and military mandarin statues, along with stone horses and elephants, lining either side of Dai Hong Mon, the main gate, and for the splendid Sung An Temple.

Located on a hill overlooking the Perfume River, this site was founded in 1601 and is renowned for its seven-story pagoda.
At the entrance stands an octagonal, seven-story tower built in the 19th century. Rising more than 21 meters, it is considered one of Vietnam’s most iconic architectural landmarks, not just in Hue.
Each tier houses a Buddha statue. Two pavilions stand on either side of the tower: one contains a stele mounted on the back of a giant turtle, while the other houses a massive bell weighing over 2 tons.

After sightseeing in Hue, the tour ends and you’ll return to your hotel.
