Hue Royal Palace (Kinh thành Huế)

- If you would like to add a cart or a specialist Guide for the Hue Imperial Palace, please select the relevant add-on option when booking.
One of Hue’s top attractions, the Hue Imperial Palace is home to the palaces and tombs of the emperors. The emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty lived within this vast, walled complex.
The inner area was the Forbidden City, accessible only to the emperor, his concubines, and his closest attendants. Anyone who entered without permission could be sentenced to death.
Although reconstruction is underway to preserve the site as a historic attraction, little of the Forbidden City remains today, and much of it has been destroyed.
The South Gate, where visitors enter, is said to have been modeled on China’s Forbidden City. Beyond the South Gate, the palace complex also contains royal residences, temples, and a Forbidden City reserved for the emperor. This name, too, was inspired by China’s Forbidden City.

Vietnamese Home-Style Meal at CHẠN Restaurant

12:00–13:00 <Lunch included> Vietnamese home-style meal
Enjoy a traditional Vietnamese set meal, a local favorite that’s less well known than pho or banh mi. Each meal is prepared with care.
One set is provided for every two guests and includes:
- Rice, morning glory, braised pork, grilled meat, and garlic shrimp
Drinks are not included. Please order them at the restaurant and pay separately.

Thien Mu Pagoda

Located on a hill overlooking the Perfume River, the pagoda was built in 1601 and is famous for its seven-story tower.
At the entrance stands an octagonal, seven-story tower built in the 19th century. Rising more than 21 m, it is considered one of Vietnam’s most iconic structures, not just a landmark of Hue.
Each level houses a Buddha statue. On either side of the tower are two pavilions: one contains a stone stele mounted on the back of a giant turtle, while the other houses a massive bell weighing more than 2 tons.

Khai Dinh Tomb

Emperor Khai Dinh ruled from 1916 to 1925, during the late Nguyen dynasty. Construction of his tomb began in 1920 and was completed in 1931. Unlike other imperial tombs modeled on Chinese architecture, it is a concrete structure with strong European influences, reflecting the impact of French colonial rule.

Minh Mang Tomb

Built in about three years after construction began in 1804, the Tomb of Emperor Minh Mang is one of the structures influenced by Chinese architecture.
Emperor Minh Mang played a major role in strengthening the country, and his reign marked the golden age of the Nguyen Dynasty.
The tomb is especially impressive for the civil and military mandarin statues, along with stone horses and elephants, lining both sides of Dai Hong Mon, its main gate, and the ornate Sung An Temple.
