Basic Information

This is a magnificent and beautiful museum showcasing Ho Chi Minh's history and culture. It features exhibits on Ho Chi Minh's economic and social development journey as well as its traditional culture. Designed by French architect Alfred Foulon in 1885 and completed in 1890, the building has served various purposes in the past, including as the Governor-General's residence under Japanese rule, the headquarters of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Vietnam, and the official residence of South Vietnam's first president, Ngo Dinh Diem. In 1999, it was repurposed as a municipal museum. Its stunning exterior has also made it a popular location for local wedding photography.
