Emperor Khai Dinh ruled the late Nguyen Dynasty from 1916 to 1925. His mausoleum, construction of which began in 1920 and was completed in 1931, is a Western-style concrete structure. It stands in stark contrast to the other imperial mausoleums modeled after Chinese styles. A notable feature is the incorporation of European architectural elements, reflecting the influence of French colonial rule.
